Privacy policy

What this site does and does not do with your data, in plain language.

Who this is

livinginarnhem.com is run by Niels Folmer, a private individual, not a registered company. For anything on this page — questions, a request about your data, a complaint — contact .

What data this site collects

The only personal data this site actively collects is what you type into the contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message. That is it — there is no account system, no newsletter signup, and no data collected just from browsing the site.

What happens to a contact-form message

When you submit the form, it is sent as an email to the site’s own inbox via the hosting provider’s mail server — it is not stored in a database. Your email address is used only to reply to you. Nothing from the form is shared with, sold to, or used by any third party beyond what is technically necessary to deliver that one email (the mail server itself).

There is no fixed deletion schedule for these messages yet — they are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry, and cleared out periodically rather than kept indefinitely. If you would like a message deleted sooner, ask.

Legal basis

Processing the contact-form data relies on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) AVG/GDPR): responding to a message you chose to send is the whole reason the data exists in the first place.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not set cookies and does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising scripts. Fonts are self-hosted rather than loaded from a third-party service like Google Fonts, so simply visiting a page does not send your IP address anywhere beyond this server. If that ever changes — for example if ads are added later — this page will be updated first, and a cookie-consent banner will be added before anything like that goes live.

Page-view counts

This site keeps an anonymous, aggregate count of how many times each page is viewed each day — purely to see which guides are actually useful, so effort goes where it helps. This does not record your IP address, does not use a cookie, and cannot be linked back to you or any individual visit — it is a single running number per page per day, nothing more, and is not shared with anyone.

Server logs

Like virtually every website, the web server keeps a short-term technical log of requests (including IP address) for security and troubleshooting purposes. This is standard operational practice, not used for tracking or profiling, and is not linked to anything you submit through the contact form.

Your rights

Under the AVG (the Dutch implementation of the GDPR) you can ask to see what data is held about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its processing. Since this site holds so little data to begin with, most requests can just be handled directly — email . You can also lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch data protection authority.

Changes to this page

If what this site does with data changes — new features, new third parties, anything — this page will be updated to match before that change goes live, not after.
